Christmas Programme

October 21st, 2016

Our Christmas Programme this year consists of a Concert of Christmas Music with Carols at 7.30pm on Thursday, December 8th in Cowick Church, and a more relaxed concert and sing along carol session in Drax Social Club on Thursday, 15th at 7.30. This will hopefully have the same relaxed ambience that our concerts at the Brewers Arms had over the past few years. There will be a plate for donations after each of these concerts.

We will also be singing Carols in Tesco, Goole on Saturday 17th December at 10.30. This will be in aid of Dove House Hospice. We thank Tesco, Goole for permission to do this.

Reports from both the Cowick Concert and the concert at Drax latter in the week were very favourable, and we hope we have found a regular venue for our Christmas concerts

Lindsey Chamber Orchestra

The Lindsey Chamber Orchestra ( who have accompanied us in our last 2 major performances) will be performing in Snaith Priory on Saturday 22nd October starting at 7.00pm

Elizabethan Serenade

June 13th, 2016

Our last performance before the summer break was called

Elizabethan Serenade

and was a collection of pieces tenuously based around the theme of the 400th anniversay of  Shakespeare’s death.

It was be held in Snaith Priory on Thursday, 7th July 2016 at 7.30pm under our MD Nicholas Sykes, with soloists Pam Waddington-Muse, Carolyne Storey and accompanist Peter Sproston.

A light supper was included and donations were welcome.

This was a lovely evening, enjoyed by a healthy audience and heralded the start of summer in a lovely way.

Elijah and the Summer to come

March 20th, 2016

This performance was enjoyed by a healthy audience at a warm Snaith Priory. This was a wonderful team effort controlled brilliantly by our MD Nick Sykes.

The choir restart back rehearsing for Summer on Thursday April 7th, so if you have been thinking about joining, now is the time!

Mendelssohn’s Elijah

December 22nd, 2015

Preparations are really hotting up for our forthcoming concert of Mendelssohn’s Elijah, with the Lindsey Chamber Orchestra (Leader Barbara Tune). Our soloists for the performance are Maxine Taylor, Carolyne Storey, Angela Hartley, Philip Scard and Ian Thomson-Smith.

The concert will start at 7.30pm in Snaith Priory on Saturday March 19th with tickets costing £10 and £5 for students.

Goole Carol Singing

December 12th, 2015

In the worst weather of the winter so far, 20 members gave up an hour of their Saturday morning to sing Carols in aid of Martin House Childrens’ Hospice. Situated outside the Junction for the first half hour, and outside The Lime Tree Coffee shop on Boothferry Road for the second. Thanks to the Lime Tree for our interval refreshments.

In total we managed to collect £69.90 which, considering the atrocious weather, was a really good effort from the people of Goole, and we hope that this donation will make a real difference to some child’s Christmas.

Christmas Concert

November 30th, 2015

On Thursday 10th December, the choir gave a very enjoyable Christmas Performance of many favourites (ably supported by the healthy audience) and some new and less well known pieces. There were also lovely duets by Pam Waddington-Muse and Carolyn Storey. Accompaniment was provided by Peter Sproston, and all who attended seemed to have a great time.

Brewer’s Arms Concert Cancelled

November 20th, 2015

Sadly, the Brewer’s Arms concert has had to be cancelled as the Brewers were unable to accommodate us at the ‘last minute.’ We can only apologise to the many people who seemed to treat this as the beginning of their Christmas festivities.
