Our last performance before the summer break was called

Elizabethan Serenade

and was a collection of pieces tenuously based around the theme of the 400th anniversay of  Shakespeare’s death.

It was be held in Snaith Priory on Thursday, 7th July 2016 at 7.30pm under our MD Nicholas Sykes, with soloists Pam Waddington-Muse, Carolyne Storey and accompanist Peter Sproston.

A light supper was included and donations were welcome.

Mendelssohn’s Elijah

Preparations are really hotting up for our forthcoming concert of Mendelssohn’s Elijah, with the Lindsey Chamber Orchestra (Leader Barbara Tune). Our soloists for the performance are Maxine Taylor, Carolyne Storey, Angela Hartley, Philip Scard and Ian Thomson-Smith.

The concert will start at 7.30pm in Snaith Priory on Saturday March 19th with tickets costing £10 and £5 for students.

Goole Carol Singing

December 12th, 2015

In the worst weather of the winter so far, 20 members gave up an hour of their Saturday morning to sing Carols in aid of Martin House Childrens’ Hospice. Situated outside the Junction for the first half hour, and outside The Lime Tree Coffee shop on Boothferry Road for the second. Thanks to the Lime Tree for our interval refreshments.

In total we managed to collect £69.90 which, considering the atrocious weather, was a really good effort from the people of Goole, and we hope that this donation will make a real difference to some child’s Christmas.

Christmas Concert

November 30th, 2015

On Thursday 10th December, the choir gave a very enjoyable Christmas Performance of many favourites (ably supported by the healthy audience) and some new and less well known pieces. There were also lovely duets by Pam Waddington-Muse and Carolyn Storey. Accompaniment was provided by Peter Sproston, and all who attended seemed to have a great time.

Brewer’s Arms Concert Cancelled

November 20th, 2015

Sadly, the Brewer’s Arms concert has had to be cancelled as the Brewers were unable to accommodate us at the ‘last minute.’ We can only apologise to the many people who seemed to treat this as the beginning of their Christmas festivities.

SANDMA concert

September 27th, 2015

Our last concert was given to the Snaith and District Men’s Association concert on October 8th at 7.30 in the Methodist Chapel in Snaith. This was the Bob Lawrence Memorial concert (He founded both orgaisations), and an enjoyable evening was had by all.

Our Christmas schedule for performances is Thursday 10th December for a Carol concert in Snaith, Saturday 12th for a morning of Carol singing in Goole, and Thursday 17th for our concert in the Brewer’s Arms.

While preparing for all these, we are also starting to learn Elijah for our Easter concert

Quiz and Summer Break

July 3rd, 2015

The choir joined forces with Skelmanthorpe Brass Band on Thursday 2nd July to give a memorable concert of pieces as diverse as Verdi, Queen, John Rutter and John Miles. There is always a danger that a brass band can ‘drown out’ a choir, but the band played with such sensitivity that the choir were able to give of their best in most pieces. If you missed this concert, you really missed a treat.

The choir are having a social quiz next Thurday (9th July) and then take their summer break, meeting agin on Thursday Sept 10th in Wesley place, to prepare for the SANDMA concert (Snaith Mens Assoc.) on October 8th.
